Strategic Communications

Phases of a Communications Campaign

No communications or marketing plan is created equal. The success of a campaign is dependent on the industry you work in, your target audience is, and what your goals are. Ridgeway Communications builds bespoke communications plans that are created with our clients in mind. On every project, we bring our clients through every phase of the process, from research and planning, to execution and evaluation, tailoring our work to our client’s specific goals.

Phase 1: Research

A well researched campaign doesn’t guarantee success, however, poor research does guarantee failure. The first step for any Ridgeway Communications Campaign is research. We start by talking to the client to learn who they are, what they do, what their objectives are, and what they’ve tried in the past. Then, we take time to research the industry and our client’s competitors to get a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t.

Components of a Communications Plan:

  • A breakdown of where your company currently stands. It will go over any strategies you’ve used in the past, their successes, and provide a brief overview of how you compare to others in the industry.

  • A look at your competitors, their communications strategies, and what is and is not working for them, and how we can improve on any of their ideas.

  • A summary of all of the research in phase 1, and how it helped us reach the conclusions that we came to in the following sections of the plan.

  • The goals that we want to achieve by the end of the campaign. These goals could include follower growth, average website traffic, or increase in lead generation.

  • An overview of how much it will cost to achieve the objectives from the last section.

  • The duration of the project term, and times for when we will be able to measure our project success.

  • A breakdown of specific strategies we’ll use to reach the project objectives, as well as the specific tasks we will complete within each strategy.

  • The method of how we will measure success for the campaign and the completion of each objective.

Phase 2: Planning

Once we have a solid understanding of the industry, our client, and how they measure success, the next step is to build a tailor-made communications campaign strategy. Ridgeway Communications will draft up a communications plan, complete with all of the strategies, tactics, timelines, and budgeting implications associated with our winning campaign. It will also includes all of our research from phase 1 that we used to guide our decision making.

Phase 2: Project Execution

This is where the fun begins. Once our team has landed on a plan that we’re confident in, it’s time execute. Ridgeway Communications will carry out every strategy and tactic outlined in the communications plan. To keep you in the loop, we will hold regular client meetings to discuss the campaign’s progress and review any potential changes that may be necessary now that we have boots on the ground experience.

Then, we will take these findings and use it to influence our strategy in our next communications plan that will build and improve on the previous plan.
